:)Hi everyone. Can anyone help with this problem that started today on my s reg elite? This morning turned ignition on to aux, but before cranking alarm the sounded. Once fired up alarm silenced. This has happened twice today. This evening, on the way home, the alarm sounded whilst driving! The alarm silenced after about 10 seconds. After another 1/4 mile same again. Pulled over, switched off ignition, but alarm carried on. Started up again and after a few hundred yards the alarm went quiet. :-? Any idea's?

maybe the powersounder is on its way out.

Unplug the powersounder and see what that does
Its a real favourite for the internal batteries to leak and cause the unit to fail - relatively easy to fix and many on here can guide you further if that does indeed prove to be the fault.

thanks Dave DND and johnty. I have seen the powersounder mentioned previously and believe that it is in/under scuttle area. Do I need to replace battery or complete unit. Thanks for the info. :y

Just to add...Didn't realise powersounder had anything to do with alarm!!! :-[ Must use grey matter more!
-
as already said power sounder, I think there is a how to on here about replacing batteries.

Thanks jimmas...I'll have a look through! :y

Do yourself a favour and just remove it, cost loads to replace and not much point nowadays. Been known to ignite when batteries leaking also :o

Hi omegod. Now I know what the powersounder is I've had a look on this forum and others. All have varying degrees of success, and most problems point to batteries or water ingress. Now I've got the weekend, I'll whip it out and have a look (as the actress said to the bishop!). If it's unrepairable I've lost nothing but a bit of time. I'll try and update later on my quest! :)

Just to agree that is going to be the power sounder it did this on mine .I changed it for another one and its been ok since

Thanks everyone for the help. :y Powersounder going off at an 'alarming' rate now. :o Don't wish to upset >:( neighbours any more nor have I time to mess about. Vauxhall stealer has one left in stock so picking it up tomorrow. Bit pricey but don't have time nor inclination to faff around. Hope this sorts it out! :y

Update..All done. New sounder in place. Took about 30 mins. Okay, so I probably didn't need it, but it's like having a house alarm. How do you know that it's working, if you never get broken into? I'm happy :), neighbours probably happy :), Vauxhall stealers happy :D..Everyone HAPPY ;D ;D ;D
Thanks everyone. :y
