Title: Engine temp problem
Post by: Risky Duckfeet on 24 July 2009, 18:12:05
Hi All,
Hope that someone can help;
The water temp gauge on my dash has stopped working, it was intermittent for a few days but now has stopped completely, Tried to find the senser in the engine but no idea where it is.
Can anyone help? Is this a common problem and should I be looking engine end or display end?
Thanks everyone in advance. :)

mine stopped working because the spade connector had come off. took ages to work out where to put it back as the temp sender had a round connector not rectangular as i was expecting!

It's on the back of my engine, but that's a 2.0 16V so maybe not that helpful for a V6 :-/. I'm sure there's more info on the forum about them though :)

anyway
Here's a link to a picture of the one for sale from vaux-world:

I found it helpful to know what to look for too :y

IIRC the sender for the gauge is under the inlet housing on or around the coolant bridge. Need to remove most of inlet housing I am afraid. It is the one with only 1 wire on it, the one with 2 wires is for the ecu, not the gauge.

Yeah, had a look to see if I could see it without moving anything and got nowhere. Might have to invest in some tools :(
Thanks for your help mate.

With scuttle off, you can get to it.

Its a single spade connector onto the sensor which is on the top of the coolant bridge
