not entirely sure the gayPhone's bluetooth has enough functionality to do more than phone :-/
No comment on the stereos :-X ;D
-
The sony is the better one :y
-
the gay phone streams MP3 via bluetooth, my mates got the Sony and it sounds AMAZING, just wasnt sure if the KENWOOD sounded better, but it looks like im going with the Sony because you get everything built in, front USB to charge your iphone, and front aux,
whats wrong with the iPhone!!!
i was like you, i still have my Nokia N95 8GB, and the Nokia E90 Communicator, which im now selling on ebay in the next few days, if anyone fancies one, make me an offer for each one, anyway...... i really do like the iPhone, i cant fault it, and please dont slag off its camera, ha ha ha ha, i thought of that and bought a 12 megapixel camera with HD recording, so im sorted ;D
-
The Kenwood will require additional modules if you want to run the bluetooth, its not included, and the troublesome Sony really struggles with the 2nd Gen bluetooth of the iPhone and later Nokia`s.
Suggest to go with one of these instead

Read the Papers - they seem to be exploding !!
;D
TB - Its unlike you to pass up a chance to comment on a Sony stereo? You are allowed to say what you like about that model, its truly & awfully unreliable
::)

I knew the original gayPhone could only do simple phone calls over bluetooth, not played enough with the GS. The little I have played with one, you WILL need to have the gayPhone plugged in power, as (phone call) bluetooth mullers the battery quickly.
Why is it gay? Well apart from, according to a recent survey, crApple are the most gay friendly brand, it is also a prime example of style over function - ideal for anyone in touch with their feminine side ;D

Is it related to Sony and their crap batteries again?

It's Sony, of course its rubbish

TB - I now have something else to add to the ideal Car.
So far:
Its a BMW One series with a gay blue LED dash conversion, Sony stereo with BOSE audio and now . . . . With an iPhone fitted.
:D

okay guys, i have just contacted Oxford Car Audio in Marston (Oxford) and they want me to pop down there, i asked the guy about SONY, he laughed and said the simple answer is "i dont stock em and that should tell me why!" and then to go and see what i could get for under £200 where he is, he has Kenwood and Alpine in stock, so will go and see what he`s got, he wants £20 for fitting it, reckons that if a head unit has Bluetooth built in, its more expensive to fit!! ???
i think thats a lie?? or do i just fit it myself then? im eager to see if a numpty like me can do it? ha ha ha
everyone telling me its one lead and i1m done in about a minute? ............ yeah but this is ME were talking about! lol
i did quite fancy the Clarion unit Dave was on about, found it for £169 online
-
some have external microphone, guess routing this, and its cable would cost you a little more.
some have the mic just on the heatunit, so wouldnt incurr this.
i have a pioneer, the bluetooth for these has an external mic :y
are you having an adaptor fitted to use the screen and steering controls?
-
Hi Guys, i done a very bad thing! lol
i didnt want to spend a fortune on the head unit
(as you all know)
i just come back from Oxford Car Audio and explained to the guy i would be using my new iPhone 3GS with the head unit
(which has 29 gig of music on it)
i got 210 albums with all my music ripped at 320kbps!
so........... i bought this and had it installed by the fitter
http://shop.audioimages.co.uk/alpine-ida-x305-ipod-usb-in-car-receiver-replaces-the-ida-x100-p-2507.html
cost me £299 in total (with fitting) oh bugger!!! lol
it doesnt have Bluetooth (but dont need it)
will buy the Alpine add on bluetooth thingy bob in the next 3 or 4 months
i already have a Bluetooth Nokia CK-1W car kit fitted which works great with the I-phone, so thats the Hands free taken care of, the new head unit doesnt have a CD Player either, i simply play the Music from my iphone into it with the supplied ipod connector
just sat here now playing with it, im absolutely f*****g blown away by the sound quality and great user friendly ness of it :-)
the screen looks good aswell
i wouldnt mind, but i only have the rubbishy factory fitted speakers that came with my car! it sounds ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
Cant wait to get my speakers upgraded and an amp and sub in the back
Hope i done good Dave?? do you and TheBoy approve? he he

For people following suit, if you have the original gayPhone (not the GS), the Parrot 3xxx seems to be about the only carkit that works acceptable - Nokias and Motorolas give the 3rd party an awful echo.
To Wayne, if its Alpine, its going to be too chavvy for my dull tastes :P, but then it wouldn't be one I'd buy anyway as I'm not that in touch with my feminine side to suffer a gayPhone ;D
Joking aside, if it works for you, thats all that matters :y
-
Lol, just followed your link Wayne. Chavtastic ;D. Does it do Space Invaders, or make the tea?
As said, glad you're pleased with the result :y
-
nope, it doesnt do space invaders or make the tea mate! ...........errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, not that i know anyway!
sound quality was my main requirement, and it sounds great, and IM NOT FEMININE! LOL
-
now all i need is my car to blow up!
still aint had a 2nd opinion or even a 3rd about my "whether my head gasket has gone"
i drove from Oxford to Brummy Airport and back when i played in Ireland at the weekend, she still accelerates well, no coolant loss, still runs hot at 97 degrees or just over, no oily mayo crap on the dipstick or on oil filler cap, who knows! just didnt want to change my factory speakers and put new ones in if i dont have long left! :y

I doubt your HG is failed. At worse, HG failure on v6 is normally just coolant loss to outside, rather than normal 'catastrophic' HG failure associated with other cars.
If you want to keep the car running well, you really will have to start doing a few bits yourself, and not be blinded by the marketing claims of some products. I am more than willing to watch over you when you first do simple servicing jobs so you learn how to do it.
-
thanks mate, appreciate it
what happens if you watch me do something and i mess up? im screwed then! lol
im doing another coolant change next week, see if i can the temperature down from 97 to a lower reading, will do the wynns coolant flush routine, and then see if that improves things, be nice to do that HG Block test with the "see what colour the liquid turns" method
as i said, she drives great still, i just get a bit anxious every time i drive her, i aint had much luck as you know

if i watch, and something breaks, well, chances are it would have failed if garage did it, so cross those bridges when they are hit.
You haven't got a major HG problem ;) - at worse you have a coolant leak from HG. Same result mind ::)
-
coolant leak from the HG you reckon mate? which means that IF i did that colour liquid test, its gonna show as HG failure anyway?
does that mean i got a few more year left on her, or it could just go at anytime? is it a really expensive job?

No, any test won't show HG failure, becuase exhaust gas can't get in the coolant...
