Title: 2015 on/off switch playing up.
Post by: feeutfo on 29 August 2009, 02:41:42
Any chance of replacment of the volume knob/on off switch on my siemens ncdc2015 ? Its not coming on or not turning off when i press it. Sometimes it comes on and goes straight off again or vice versa. Had to press and hold for about 10 seconds to get it to respond last time. Although i got the feeling it was confused in its start up procedure and was just untangeling it knickers on that occassion.

Or do i just have to leave it on and just turn the volume to zero, to save the switch itself as parts not available?

I believe that if someone on here has got a faulty 2015 which they are willing to send you, it may be possible to replace yours, if of course you fancy a bit of desoldering / soldering  :D

I'd suggest to drop DND a PM. He's in the business and could give you precious advice  :y

No spares available for that model outside of the in house service network.

Unit suffers from dry joints on back of switch and edge connector of fascia to main pcb

Run the soldering iron over the joints - facia board isn't surface mount IIRC

No need to solder if swapping the facia board, just remove the 15 or so little screws, unclip the cd cartridge ejector mechanism and swap the boards.

As has been mentioned, a few minutes with a soldering iron on the rear of the on/off switch and the main connectors to the fascia - there will either be very little solder, or more usually some of the pins may actually be broken loose

Not seen the problem before but I have a few NCDC's here (one needing a new mainboard.....)
