Hi,
I popped out earlier in SWMBO's Focus and it dawned on me that although this popular little Ford has it as standard, it isn't on the Omega, although can't speak for the Facelift cars. I know the Omega isn't a new car, but the Focus hails back to '98, so is only a slightly newer design than the Omega.
Has anyone ever done it, and if so would they share how please.
Thanks

The mig's don't have them because they are GAY ;D ;D
Why do you need to see your feet when you're driving anyway?
-
LOL .............. :) :) :)
-
Actually, they only come on with the interior light - you know the one in the Mig which lights up in a manly way when you get into and out of the car.
LEDs are so cheap I think I might have a play ........ :) :)

AHHH! The "L" word points to GAY too :D :D :D

Footwell lighting is for 17yrs olds and their Saxos. And is gay.
Most Omegas have puddle lights in the door.
My old 51 plate Focus heap of junk - probably the worse car I've ever owned - never had footwell lighting. That said, its interior light was pretty naff as well.
-
They're not gay....they are so you can see if one of your beer cans has rold under the break pedal
-
Ok chaps, lets see how the logic works here ...
I'm assuming that if footwell lights are gay then, by association, any car having them is also gay and to be avoided?
That means as almost all cars as future potential replacements to Omgeas must be excluded and anyone on the forum, at least who isn't gay, can never own anything other than an Omega?
This means that Omega's will soldier on forever . ;D ;D
As a matter of interest, can anyone advise of a car that isn't gay. I'm struggling to think of anything as they all have footlights now.
I'll chuck a couple of suggestions (footlights aside) and await the torrent of abuse that will no doubt follow:
BMW E46 330d
Mondeo Mk 4, 2.5T
Audi A4, 3.0 Tdi
Duck .......

I'd be OK with 2 after I'd disconnected the footwell lights but you can stick the Mundaineo anywhere that pleases you ;) :P :y
-
I'm glad that a couple of the choices were acceptable.
Have you driven the Mondeo 2.5T petrol?
-
I've not done petrol cars since I sold my elite estate. Probably won't again either, Just not a fan of the new look-a-like ford range. They're all plastic fantastic and look cheap.
-
I can see that.
I had a Mondy 3 ST TDCi 2.2, which was a great car in all but 2 respects, firstly, it was very very noisy to ride in, secondly, the engine altough pulling well, was prone to start suffering strange things @ random from about 60k onwards. I was lucky in that I had mine from new - but it spent a lot of time gettng sorted under warranty towards the end of my ownership & I'd be really nervous about getting one a few years down the road when all £££ would be mine.

Is it just me being 'sensitive', or do I detect a teeeeny hint of anti GAY sentiment in this thread? ;) ;D ;D ;D

So, ALL beemers are gay, and Audi is going that way?
Whats the spriritual successor to the Omega then when its time has come?
Its an interesting point as having had my first company one new in '94 (one of the famous L reg "purple" pre-production V6 CD saloons) and then into an Elite, all support was via the dealership. Going in to private ownership in 2000 to a '97 MV6 there was very little support via the Autobahnstormers. Now its great, the cars are cheap and this place gives such fantastic help & support. BUT, the last car coming out of Russelsheim in 2003, so I suspect that the Omega "world" is at its zenith at the moment - asking the question, "whats next" to many people.
I think that the real answer is that not all Mig owners will get the same car next ............
-
The guestion that haunts us all. A non gay Omega replacement....? Some have defected to mercedes. When the time comes, ill probably be trying very hard not buy a Phaeton. Footlights or not....
Footlights, footwell lighting, what ever.......does sound gay, has to be said. :-)

Sadly I think you may be correct :(
I bought my first Omega 6 years ago, a 1994 2.5 V6, it went to the scrap yard last month after 200,000 miles still running sweetly but looking like a shed. :'(
Its replacement is a 2003 2.6 Elite. If it lasts as long I will be looking for a replacement sometime between 2015 & 2018.
-
Phaeton Now thats a real possibility ....
They are massive cars, there is no Haynes manual and the shocks cost £4k a set to change as must be done @ the same time.
The one to have would be the V10 TDi 5.0 methinks ....
-
Lets think
What is classy looking but slightly anonomous - so doesn't stand out or look offensive?
What is rear wheel drive?
What doesn't have those funny LED Volvo lights?
What is affordable?
Any answers yet?

Its fair to say that my next car won't be a BMW (I won't allow one to park on my driveway, horrid pieces of junk), and very unlikely to be a Skoda Audi.
You're right, everyone will have something different. Doubt few of us will go for the german 'badge counts' cars, seeing as we are happy with our no badge exec cars. Not much choice.
And anything thats style over substance - BMW, Apple Macs and gayPhones, Nokia N95 etc - are for gentlemen far too in touch with their feminine side....

4k ? Must be dealer price surely? Cheap diagnostic software though. But using it's another matter.
Vag forum is shite, as are the dealers but nothing new there.
I do have a contact with one of the service engineers, he can be helpfull depending how busy "he" is, he earns a packet on the side. But does come out with some crap sometimes ;D.
I think we need to realise we have been spoiled with support on here allowing big savings. Unless TB starts a phaeton forum, or whatever car you go for, its GOING to be more expensive to run.
With that in mind, personally i hope general car chat grows to cover other Manufacturers a bit more if possible, for the sake of all our wallets.

And there is bog all stylish about the n95!

Its a beemer
Its a rag-top
Thus, its suitable for:
Hairdressers
Gentlemen who like boys
:-X
;D

I was seriously considering either an Audi A6 or A8 when I replaced my Omega last month but money talks.
There was no way I could get close to Elite spec in an Audi at a reasonable price.

For the money, its not possible to buy anything other than an omega.....at the moment. I tried, but failed.
