Title: alarm

Every time i get in the car and turn on the ignition my alarm goes off,and i have no control over it.I have to wait until it stops,then i can carry on as normal.Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem is?

Power sounder? Under the scuttle driver's side.  :y

Cheers andy,but whats the exact problem,is it the batteries or is it just knackered.? :y

I've never had problems with mine, but past experience here suggests that the batteries leak & bugger it up. YOu can always open it up & have a look - but you'll need a small hacksaw to do so!  :o  :y  :y

Usually a sign that there is a low battery voltage being detected, and that cranking the car is dipping the voltage below the acceptable threshold set by the alarm.

Even if the car starts ok, its still worth checking out the battery and charging circuits and earth connections before the cold weather hits, and if all that fails, then replace the batteries in the power sounder as a belt and braces fix, as that is also prone to problems once the batteries deterioate and start to leak.

Thanks dave,just read the other thread,and got a gbetter insight now as to what i am looking for,and i beleive the batteries are soldered in,can these still be changed.? :y

Yes, the batteries can be changed - its more cumbersome than it is complicated as the power sounder is glued together and the batteries soldered in, but I`m fairly sure there is a "How To" guide on here somewhere - maybe someone will point you at it shortly
