have got a r reg cdx without bose and have have bought an aftermarket cd player,wired all up but no sound,looked in boot and found philips amp with iso connections have had a look and changed some wiring on it to get sound but any sort of volume and get major interference.when return ground is connected sound is great but when you press to select anything exept volume on stereo sound goes off,im usually good at fitting things like this as it used to my job but im stuck!!any help!!! :y

My first thoughts would be the input voltages to the amp.
It was not uncommon for the OEM Vx Head unit to have been reconfigured to run line level out of the ISO outputs and into the amp. If you have simply connected the ISO plug to the rear of your new head unit, you may find that you are simply overdriving the amp.
As a test, try connecting the RCA outputs of the head unit directly to the ISO socket in the car and see what happens.
It may well work with the Philips amp setup, but if you spot anything with BOSE on it, you are into a whole heap of trouble.

IIRC the very early Omegas had a Phillips Amp connected to a SC804 Head unit.... I could be wrong though!

That was my line of thought - and output of the SC804 was only around 6 watts per channel, so connection of an aftermarket head unit of around 50W ish per channel would certainly cause problems. Hence the idea of trying RCA connections - it should give some sound without shutting down if I am right, if not, then something else may be afoot.

its deffinatly not bose.has got a wiring diagram on it and worked it out but still not working properly.think im going to have to rewire it all!!nice.have tried sub rca and got no response.when i bought the car it didnt have the original stereo,still a vauxhall head unit but off a later model,that worked fine but keeps loosing radio.
