Is changing the glow plugs on a 2.2dti an easy job?
-
I'm sure someone here will correct me, but i don't think the 2.2 has any as such. I think it has one that heats the diesel prior to injection, but i could be wrong :-/ That's why in cold weather there's that diesel smell & a cloud that rises up from the bottom of the off side front wing. When i first got mine i thought oh what the hells gone wrong, but it's normal ;D

The Y22DTH engine certainly has glow plugs, cost £25 for the 4 last time they were bought and takes about an hour to change them.
PS
Just checked TC, the part number (for the 2.2 DTi) is 93178225.
TC price is £8.18 + VAT each
Punter price (from Vx) is £11.65 + VAT each

Thanks KillerWatt if it only took you an hour to change your glow plugs, sounds like its straight forward enough job. Is there anything that you have to remove to get at them and do I need any special tools, thanks.

You can change them with a standard socket set and a pair of long nose pliers - if all goes well half hour max. Just don't apply too much pressure when fitting them, or you can strip the thread.

No special tools required at all, all I would say is don't use cheap chinese s**t as a tool set.
It took me just over the hour to change all 4, but I'm not exactly a "noob" when it comes to working on all things mechanical.

Just be aware, i've read horror stories of the glow plugs snapping in the head so take it easy with them
::)

I've been thinking as to their location, i've never noticed were they are. Hence my knowledge was limited & i've been informed wrong again by so called experts :(
I'll keep my gob shut next time ;D
