Title: Estate aerial ???
Post by: I_want_an_Omega on 12 December 2009, 18:00:14
Hi,

Regarding a minifacelift estate with combined phone/radio aerial. There will be 2 coax cables running away from the aerial, but do they both run down the passenger side to connectors & then up into the dash, or does one of the cables run down the drivers side kick panel?

I know they both go to the back of the radio cage as two separate coax connections.

Is there also a power connection to the aerial as well or is it totally passive. If so, where does it take the power from?

TIA .......... Rob

Aerial loom runs from connector at antenna end (tails on antenna) to drivers kick panel connector then another loom to headunit.

EDIT: Can't spell!

The connectors under the passenger side of the rear seat are as I say. One multiplug is for the heated seats, the other for the suspension. Both will be empty unless the car has these features specified.

I can't think of any T shaped connectors in the area.

But, its  meaningless discussion anyway as I'm looking for a black coaxial cable of about 1/4 inch diameter - not a multipin plug.

I think the one for the normal aerial runs down the drivers side of the car.

Yep, as suspected (& thanks) - but its the phone aerial connection that I'm after not the radio aerial one. There will be 2 black coaxs coming off the aerial for cars with the built in phone or the phone wiring kit option.

Yes two Coax's, You then need an optional cable to get from the kick panel to the phone kit or CCRT700.

If it's a Nav version you'll have three coax's as the GPS element is in the foot - only mention as externally the boots look the same.

Both down the drivers side? I suspect that the phone one goes down the passenger side .......
