Suggestion is to pay an annual fee of £10 to be able to buy ciggies.
-
how are they going to enforce that ::)
-
I spend over £3000 a year on fags. ;D
-
hmmm
I could charge the kids outside my local shop the cost to cover the fee
:y
-
If it stops young kids from buying them, then it's a good thing.
Yes they will find other ways of getting them= there was a guy up the road from me selling imported cigs to school kids until someone made a call, i wonder who ::)
-
how are they going to enforce that ::)
if theres money involved they will find a way.......maybe employ lots more people at taxpayers expense to snoop....rant no. 26 over :)

I hope you are right but I am not so sure, if you read it in the news it was worded like "This is just the next step in our programme to eliminate smoking" I really did not think the smoking ban in pubs would come in, but it did. And what really scares me is what happens after they completly ban smoking ! do they move onto restrictions on alcohol and then later a total ban on alcohol.
I fear for our freedoms under this hateful government.

This is exactly what I have talked about with other folk before the smoking ban came in, the pubs will end up becoming coffee shops/, what worries the government is that they don't know how many folk drink indoors, effectivekly they have already banned drinking ion certain public areas already, so the seed is already there 8-)

your freedom is so precious, they have to take it off you and look after it for you >:(if they were ever to ban cigs and booze they would probably have to charge 50 quid a gallon for petrol to cover the lost revenue, they wouldnt be that heartless would they :o
-
Why do we tollerate this crap?...
-
Look on the bright side, when they decide to Ban alcohol in Pubs, at least were be able to Smoke and Drink outside!.

Firstly I'm a Non-Smoker... though I don't condemn those that are.... free rights n' all...
So, this 10 quid will presumably be for an I.D card....
It'll cost way more than that to administrate, tax payers money...

Can't think of many in western europe, I do think the UK is the best of all worlds generally speaking, but it does have some very major drawbacks, completly overcrowded towns and cities, a government who taxes us to the hilt and cares only about the middle classes.
Our education system is laughable. Our care of the elderly is bordering on abuse, and soon will be. our roads are in shocking condition. Our transportation systems are 50 years behind western europe. And for all these problems we still pay more and get less.
I hate and love these islands at the same time. We are in the 21st century and yet our government wants to control us all the time.
Who said it, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutly, or something like that.
Oh god I have just read what I have written and find I am really getting miserable in my old age (42) but these things do really annoy me. (now stop now stop now stop)

I personally think that this government won't be happy till the day comes that we all just get up in the morning, eat your genetically engineered breakfast cereal, travel to work on their underfunded overpriced
transport cattle truck system, clock in to your 10 hours of brain numbingly boring work, clock out and return home hopefully whilst dinner still looks edible and return to bed until, well you know........... :'(.
PS. I gave up smoking 12 years ago!!! :(

I have never understood why it is legal and certain other smoking substances are illegal.
However this is just more control the population, but I think the super GP surgeries are more of a worry - they want to shut all the small doctors surgeries to replace them with mini hospitals.
NHS will be killed by nulab at this rate
-
just when we thought they couldnt do any more damage the nhs....and to think it used to be envied the world over >:(
-
I've never understood all this meddling with doctors. I've always been happy with the service from my GP. On the rare occasions when I want to see him I can get an appointment next day and so what if it's during working hours? I'm generally too ill to go to work otherwise I wouldn't be bothering him. >:(
I suspect the government have merely spotted something else to meddle with and break up. >:(
I wish the government would trust professionals to do the job they understand. Quite what qualifies the attention seeking self serving gibbons in government to lay down the law on how the minutest details of the health service, teaching, policing, etc... are run I don't know.
Kevin

i cant remember how long its been since we had a tori government but i do know its time the labour stopped saying their still trying repair the damage done by the Conservatives

i suspect we may soon have another tory government and i predict that (imho)it will be almost as useless as the current lot.i think that we on goof(grumpy omega owners forum)should form a party before the next election ;D :y

What, back to the good old days with 'Cottage Hospitals' we have one near us but we have normal gp surgeries in the villages, except ours. :D
I believe the NHS has already gone. Not 'National. Health, there are not nationaly paid for facilities, all local budgets, I think.
I add however that I have received nothing but a first class service from local GP and hospitals. :) :) :)
