I have read the Haynes Manual on removing the Heater Blower but does anybody have any tips on this job My speed controller appears to have failed
-
You should not need to remove the blower motor to change the controller, it should pull out from the housing. I had to make a tool from some 15mm copper pipe to pull it though.
Removing the motor is a pain, most of the passenger side air ducting and wiring trunk is in the way.

Removing blower motor is a pain in the rse - top two bolts have to be removed (& refitted) by feel! You need to drop glovebox out, remove trunking tray, undo fixing bolts disconnect electrics and then waggle the b*gger out! As Hayes says "refitting is the reverse of removal" ;D
Took me a couple of hours to swap blower motors on the Estate whilst standing on my head under the dash!!

i changed my fan speed controller start to finish in my 30 min dinner break, glove box out-look right under at the back(best bet is when youve got your new one and you know what it looks like)two lugs hold it in-one plug 2 wires to change-pop back in and jobs a good un. :y

Did you change yours because the blower would not turn off even with the ignition off
-
Is the speed controller a small square unit or is it what they call a hedgehog
-
on ebay someones selling them and they call it the hedgehog its a good pic as well,i changed mine cos it packed in all together and got one for a tenner off marky mark but thats a sore point on here at the mo :-X but was it the boy who said it can fail and stay on, i bodged mine till i got replacement by putting a switched earth direct to motor so sounds like yours is putting a constant earth out :y
