Post by: stevie c on 02 January 2010, 09:43:47
I have a problem with my alarm going off and have read that this is normally the bonnet sensor but I can't find it!!. Can anybody give me some hints of is position?? I have a 2003 omega estate.

Just to the right of oil filler cap. A black rubber-encased pressure plunger/switch

Where are you - might be worth filling in location in profile. Somebody nearby may be willing to point exactly to it :)

It wasn't the bonnet sensor!!. when I lock the car the LED light on the dash flashes for about 10 sec's and then goes to a slow blink, does this mean it is sensing a fault and not arming or is this the normal sequence?? The alarm then goes off randomly so I am currently not arming the alarm. Any help would be useful.

Could this be the famous "power sounder" problem guys.  It's very easy to assume its the alarm going off and it's really the power sounder.  Like a lot of you i had the same problem as the poster UNTIL I disconnected the power sounder....problem gone away.

You could be right... there seems to be a lot of posts about 2001-2003 sounders going off right now (including mine!)... perhaps they are all getting to 'that age'  ;)

Same here, although my alarm light still flashes when I turn it on
