Title: Alt output 2.2
Post by: Iain on 05 January 2010, 15:50:27
Hi people....Ozzy is starting to sound a bit reluctant to start in these cold mornings, now it could be that fact that its around minus 6/7 every morning, but i used my "My Naff Code Reader" to test the output of the alternator

Engine off reading is 11.7v
Engine running is 12.8v
Engine runnning with all loads switched on is back down to 11.7v

Now i would say that the Alt is not charging properly....

What do we think?

cheers Iain

Loose/corroded earth terminals or possibly regulator in alternator failing. Any glimmer of ign. light when driving?

Seems to be a common trait with most miggys. Whip the alt. off (10mins) check the sprung contact on the regulator.
