Title: No stereo, central locking or digital display unit
Post by: leejackson21 on 03 January 2010, 17:52:20
Hi all,

I just bought a Wreg 2.0l CD and have a number of electrical problems.

The central locking does not work, infact i can't even lock the doors manually!

Also the stereo lights up, but doesn't do anything and the digital display unit does not work.

I'm thinking that they may be somehow all related? Does anyone have any tips orhints as to where to start?

thanks in advance,
Lee

Welcome to OOF Lee, someone who has KNOWLEDGE will  be along in a minute, they're mostly navel gazing at the moment :y

Can only suggest to to check all fuses and then try tackling the problems one at a time -

You may find that by looking at one of the problems will lead you to a common fault that may even fix the others as well.

The main problem you have is that you do not know the history of the new car you have aqquired, so I would also check the basics - is the stereo actually plugged in at the back? Is all of the wiring intact, or has any of it been hacked about?

If you have a meter, then a good place to start would be by trawling the OOF pages for a wiring diagram

Good luck - and if you need help with a specific problem, you will find that the forum is a goldmine of information - but works better if everything on your profile is filled in, including a location

Where are you Lee?

Try re-seating the dash as the display and stereo are interconnected. Central locking could be anything from a flat battery in the remote to well almost anything!

Hope thats a starting point for you ;)
