Title: ciggy lighter
Post by: Rog the Dodge on 08 January 2010, 20:17:25
Its time i sorted out the ciggy lighter on the elite, for some unknown reason the previous owner had decided to put an empty shell in its place, so i need to know what sort of unit i need to fit the gapping hole, i took one of a 96 tourer but it was no where near the correct size.

I should have said that its the whole ash tray i need to fit !!!,not just the lighter.

Should be 3 ? connectors for fag lighter, 1 for the ashtray light. Ashtray assembly pushes in and held by a central screw.

Looks like mine has been cut about in behind ,maybe had some kind of sat/nav or tv screen or something in there, i really could do with taking a look at what is supposed to be there, this conector is fixed to the plastic lip .
Perhaps someone somewhere has a pic?, or better still one for sale ?

Rog, Sorry, couldn`t post the pic. Had a look on mine that I`m breaking and in the centre rear of the ashtray aperture there is indeed a small connector block. When the ashtray is fully inserted the two connectors (other on rear of ashtray) engage to complete the circuit re; illumination and cig lighter :)

As yours is ex police, it's likely the wiring has been chopped about a bit. Had the same with one of mine, just took a bit of patience to find the right wires and where everything should go.

Hiya Rob, how you doing mate?
Rog, one problem you may find is that the police frequently cut the cage behind the centre console to fit their equiptment in. So unfortunately the ashtray may not fit as there won't be the correct part to screw it to. You may need a new cage, easy to fit. Some forces differ though, do you know which force yours came from?

Now I can sort that for you Rog if it`s needed ;)

Hi mate, mine is a thames valley one, so not to much is cut behind the blankin off plate, still has this connector which is a plus, i have put a stereo in there in a cage so ash tray will finish it of.

I`ve got the complete wood surround with all the switches, CCR2006 & cage, minus the ash tray. Anything you might need in that area I`ve still got in the breaker

Pity its in the wood finish, if going down that road would like it in black or grey.

Rog, as you look at the small connector block at the rear of the ashtray aperture the bottom left pin is grey/yellow wire, the top left is black and the bottom right is blue :y
