cd version 4 bolts and connector. No air bag mind. Should be easy if you can find a matching seat.

Where are you located? Update your info :y
Give us a bit more info like cloth/leather and what colour it is.
Thanks
-
sorry im in tyrone, northern ireland and it has black leather

Iirc you need to disconnect the battery approx. 30 minutes before disconnecting the wiring to the airbags. Then just undo the 4 bolts and lift the seat out.Replacing the heating element on a leather seat is something which causes a few arguments on here. Some people say its imposssible, others say its just extremely difficult. ;)

I had a W reg 2.6 elite (lpg'd) which blew fuses cos the heating element in the driver seat framed to earth. Took along long time to find the cause ,but a very friendly auto elec changed the element in leather seats. He said it took 4 attempts to get the dealer to produce the right part though.
Have they changed things since?
I would have thought that a non replaceable heated seat would be counter productive but moter maufacturers are alawunto themselves.

Having said all this, next door to my company is called "Transcal", and all they do is build replacement and do repairs on leather seats. they tell me its an easy job for them, just bring the seat and the new element to them, and they will do it within 2 hrs.
Now, just to get the right element..............

We`ve had this same discussion on so many forums now, that we have now sourced a set of universal heated seat kits

But are they gonna do it properly or just slide the new one in on top or under the old one. ::)

Does it matter? :-/
The element is part of a fabric liner that's stiched to the leather, replacing them with A N Other element that just sits under the original just means that he heat from the new mat just has to pass though the original liner & element before it gets to your bum. :y

Shouldn`t really matter, although not rocket science to remove the old pad once the covers are off.
Andy B , PM me your email address and I`ll send you a picture of the switches - they are round so would look quite good in the Smart
:y

I'm told they REMOVE the old ones and reinstall in their place.
