Whilst driving along the motorway yesterday at 70 in the middle lane, the powersounder activated for no reason, causing all the other cars to pull out of my way and slow down!!!
Unfortunately, it stopped 10 mins later of its own accord, and seems ok now. WTF??? I THINK the hold-off feed to the sounder may be suspect, but welcome advice from a more knowledgeable person on this problem.

More likely to be the sounder itself. Batteries get leaky and contaminate the PCB and after that it has a mind of its' own. ;D
They have been known to catch fire, so I'd remove it and have a look ASAP.
Batteries can be replaced and the board cleaned up if not too bad, but the casing needs to be cut open to get access and then glued back together.
Or you can buy a new part. Depending on part number, some are only 60 quid or so, others double that.
