Title: Automatic - interlock relay
Post by: I_want_an_Omega on 24 April 2010, 08:27:47
My car has a problem where sometimes you can't take it out of park without pressing the yellow tab down. Other times it's ok and you can hear the relay click when you press the brake pedal.

Check control is ok and brake lights work ok.

Any idea what the most likely cause of the problem is guys?

Thanks

This happened to me as well but my brake light switch was intermittant ... sometimes the brakelights wouldnt light up and that was when it wouldnt release .... but then you say your brakelights are fine  :-/

Often the switch, but can be the solenoid.  Easy enought to check with a meter across the solenoid ;)

It's not the most comfortable or elegant position you need to get into to get to the switch  ;) ;D

Even you'd be able to lie down to do the job if the seat's been removed.  ::)  :y  :y
