Title: facelift audio etc, etc
Post by: Ken L on 08 May 2010, 14:29:33
Couple of questions if someone can help please. First, is the radio aperture a standard double din size, so an aftermarket head unit would fit?, second, I know there has been some discussion before but I can't remember the outcome, is it possible to have the steering wheel controls work with  an aftermarket head unit? If I get the car I want, I'm thinking of one of those large screen(6") double din units with sat nav etc.

It is double din but you need an adapter fascia as the sides angle inwards towards the lower edge.

You can get steering wheel controls (and display adapters) for some of the head units but it is entirely dependant on the head unit model.

OK Thanks, is the adaptor fascia a dealer part? and how would I find out if steering wheel and display adaptors were available for a particular head unit?

Talking about display units, another question, which are interchangable if any? i.e. will the full screen one from a mini face lift replace the half screen ones?

Fascia from Dave DND (Autoleads etc make them)

Display depends on car model and it's check control.

Steering wheel / Display adapters probably best researched on manufacturers site or again ask Dave DND

Have a look at teh bottom of this link, and you will see the leads that are available for steering controls and manufacturers supported.

Cheesy crappy chinese stuff out there is NOT supported by aftermarket steering adaptors, only the quality brands.
