Title: Brake light check display
Post by: Kieran on 20 May 2010, 16:26:05
When i start the car i have the usual brakelight check come on till i push the brake pedal and it goes away as normal. But recently i had an actual brakelight fail on me and i replaced them both with Vauxhall ones as i have had a problem with Halfuds in the past and the brake lights all work fine. However i am now getting the brakelight failure lamp with check coming on all the time after i have pressed the brake pedal indicating a fault. Do the codes that are stored in the ECU have to be cleared to have the fault removed

Cheers
Kieran

No codes to be removed... Are you sure that the brake lights are working properly?

check the yellow and black line on the brake cluster's that is the wire for the check light should be the left side on rear right and op on other side, may have a bad connection.

I`d be trying another set of bulbs in case you have been palmed off with a cheapie set from the dealer - any other cars on your driveway?

Its the bulb resistance that often causes the problems
