Post by: pedroMV6 on 08 June 2010, 21:13:52
Where is the main engine ECU please?
Is there owt else that needs disconnecting apart from the battery and the alternator before starting welding on the truck?
Car (truck now, I guess!) is a MY2000 facelift Omega 2.5 Elite estate, with all the toys. :y

Just disconnect +ve and -ve of the Battery.

Ensure that the earth clamp of your welder has a good connection to clean metal (NOT EXHAUST) ;-)

Keep the Earth of the welder as close to where you are welding to ensure welding live path has shortest route to earth lead.

Guys - I know how to weld on a car, was my job on BTCC and WRC cars for years, what I need to know is where is the engine ECU as I want to disconnect it.

Long story, but seen one get fried and always do it as a matter of course now.
