Title: Stereo in Police Special Omega
Post by: Lee 7Star on 08 June 2010, 14:18:40
I am attemping to put a CCR2006 unit in an Omega 3.2 Special, (ex-Police vehicle), however the dash display in the Special is very simple and it does not allow the stereo code to be entered as there is just no display for that.

Also the connector at the back of the display is a grey plug with approx 24 pins... Can anyone advise on this, Thx Lee

If you do not have any form of stereo display, then a stereo is obviously not going to work.

Without some more info about the display you have, its going to be impossible for anyone to answer

Picture of the display?

AFAIK all displays are capable of displaying the head unit data.

OK, had another look and the top part of the TID display does not display anything at all, the bottom part shows 2 symbols; 1 being a headlight symbol and the other being a caution symbol, they both turn off afer a few seconds when the ignition is turned on.

Top part should display time, date & radio info. Date should disappear when radio switched on. Bottom display will show various warning symbols depending on what sensors are fitted. Are you getting anything on the top part :question

Are all the wires connected at the rear of the stereo and the display - nothing chopped or cut ?

Silly question. Have you had the instrument panel out to check that there are bulbs in the back of the TID :question

Also is there a feint orange glow from the top of the display backlight?

thinking possible bulb failure?

No have not checked the bulbs, and also don't see any feint orange glow, will have a quick look into this as the Police may have removed the bulbs!!

If no bulbs you can test with bulbs from the instrument warning bank, same type

Thankfully the loom was all ok, was just blown bulbs:)!! now just have to leave the stereo on for half an hour as it's in safe mode and down to 7 attempts.
