Title: Display not working
Post by: Marc Taylor on 28 May 2010, 19:30:02
I recently changed all the blown bulbs with led bulbs which work ok behind the dials but since doing that the computer display doesnt work at all, iv tried changing the bulbs around for polarity but no joy.  I get the light i think for the gearbox on when i turn the ignition on but not time, date radio info etc.  Any suggestions would be very greatly appreciated on what is wrong/i have done wrong. Thank you very much

Is the plug fully home on the back of the display?

put the old type back in, if the lights come back on then you have blown the resister on the led's or the led's them self... and you got some cheap set leds.

all other lights work all backlighting and all the various switches and lights no problem, i have taken all the blue ones out and put the new standard bulbs in and even in the display.  All the clocks work as normal again as with the blue could only see patches of the speedo and rev clock.  I put normal bulbs back inside the clock display which were bought from a vauxhall spares place, they still dont work so i am thinking they are either the wrong wattage and awaiting gen ones of the 2 wattages used or i have done more damage to it with the blue leds.  If i shine a torch through the bulb holes you can see the display is on correctly just no backlighting to make them visible.

i thought that could have been a possibility but unfortuneately no cigar.  Fingers crossed ill get the chance to get the right wattage bulbs replace them and then it will work fine.  Worst case is a new display, any idea how much they are???

I had exactly the same problem once with my old CDX, and it was the fuse I had blown!! ::) ::) ::)

Cannot remember if it was fuse 26 or not though, but it was the fuse ;) ;)  Everything came back on once that was replaced 8-) 8-)

the lights and things come on with the doors open like they should and fuse 26 is perfectly fine.  I cannot think of anything else other that a new screen.  If any one else has got any other suggestions as said before will be greatly appreciated, Thanks everyone for your help so far
