Title: Philips CarIn SatNav
Post by: Broomies Mate on 11 July 2010, 22:19:08
Hello peoples.

Where do I get the updated CD's from??  ANy idea of cost?  Is this the sort of thing you have to buy, or can it be acquired elsewhere, legitimately of course.  :)

Thanks

No longer available (assuming you mean CARiN).

It is copyrighted material, thus canot be acquired legally.

I think 2008 was about the last - you could call Navteq to see if they still have any.

*DONT* use a CDR on that unit.

You know the reasons (technical) for using a proper CD. They are so cheap, and (good) CARiN units so hard to find, its not worth it.

Then, we all know that CDR maps imply certain legalities, which break our rules, so  :-X

Now using a music CDR on those Philips mechanisms, it would appear that using top quality media (Verbatim or TY) burned at slow speed is probably doing less damage than crappy media done at high speed.
