Post by: twiglet on 06 July 2010, 14:27:13
Hi there.

What's the best and most cost effective way of playing toons from an iPod through the Siemens NCDC 2013 system?

Cheers

A good quality FM Modulator is your best (well only really) option

I am not really sure how it works, but mine has a handsfree Bluetooth Nokia set build in. When I get a call, the display shows "other input" or something similar, mutes the current music source and switches the phone to the speakers. I guess there must be an input of some kind. When I hang up, it returns to the last used source.

I have to clean the CD lenses this weekend, so I will take the unit out. Maybe I can find out more about how it is connected then.

that is a lo-fi mono input for voice only, you wouldnt want to listen to music through it  :y

I suspect most of these FM modulators are also mono.....

You are probably right about the special phone input being mono, but on the otherhand, what is exactly a lofi input. I mean, I understand the abbriviation, but how does that work? I thought it is just a normal amplifier (in build-up), so an input is an input.
I did clean the lens today and suddenly all nav disks work again, perfect! But I couldn't see anything about the connection. I didn't think it had a sort of craddle.

Cant speak for all of them, but most of the good ones I have ever encountered are actually stereo

Just out of interest, as I recently won SWMBO an iPod which we want to be able to use in 2 cars, how easy is this to move?

Fairly easy, but why not buy two of them and wire them in properly !!

Because we can only play it in one car at a time ::) ::) And I'm a tight git :D :D

Also, I see it's only got a few frequencies... Isn't that likely to cause me issues with the vast travelling I do if I hide it away?

When you encounter the common problem associated with that one, by all means come and buy a real Modulator from me

I have one of Dave DND's ones, and its the best I've used so far.  Yes, the lack of frequencies did (still does) concern me, but its not as big an issue as I thought it would be.

I will get around to permenently mounting at some point....

I`ll let the others answer that one . . .

They are the ones that had the problems, not me, and prompted our research into the best one that we could find, and now sell
