Title: Poor AM Reception
Post by: nordic on 07 August 2010, 15:05:49
Hello.

I have very poor AM reception in all areas. In town or the countryside.

Where should I look in order to improve the problem?

Cheers.

Did you pulled out the radio lately? Check the antenna connection & cable

Worth checking the antenna connector but, TBH, they are all rubbish. AM is very prone to interference and there is plenty of that from the electrical systems in a modern car. Plus, there isn't room in a car for a decent antenna to cover such long wavelengths.

Vauxhalls usually have a signal amplifier that works to improve the reception when listening to M.W. stations... does the car have the original Vauxhall stereo fitted?
