Title: Passenger door puddle light not working
Post by: ScaniaV8 on 09 August 2010, 09:23:36
All other 3 doors work ok when opening, checked the passenger door puddle light bulb and it had blown so I replaced with new bulb but still not working. Main interior lights do come on Ok when passenger door is opened but not the puddle light !

Any clues to what could be the problem?
Also no sound to my passenger door speaker! (I have checked the balance control and fader controls and these seem to be working ok fine but no sound to the passenger front door speaker. Is my puddle light and speaker problem likely to be related? :(

cheers

I'd guess the problems are related, start by checking the wiring loom where it passes from the car body into the door. Open the door and look inbetween the hinges for the rubber umbilical which carries the wiring loom. Peel back the rubber and check for chaffed wires.

The switch is a double contact one. One for the door light, the other for the alarm/main interior light etc.

If you gently remove the switch and carefully look at the wires to it you may find a bad connection - but be careful not to let go as if the wites go back inside the door hole you are stuffed.

Will that fix the speaker problem too?

The systems are totally separate - but the wires will run together in a single bunch - so if physical damange has occured it may well have impacted more than one wire.
