Ignition on, radio off. Press and hold the AS button and switch the HU on, it will beep and then request a code, release AS button. Use buttons 1, 2, 3 & 4 to enter the code then press AS again :y

SAFE with no numbers to the left means that igntion was not turned on first.

Code Entry as Follows:

Turn Off Stereo
Switch On Ignition (No Need To Start Engine)
Press & Hold Preset " AS " and
Switch Radio On - Display Shows
" SAFE " And Then Shows " 10 - - - - "
Press preset " 1 " repeatedly for 1st Digit
Press preset " 2 " repeatedly for 2nd Digit
Press preset " 3 " repeatedly for 3rd Digit
Press preset " 4 " repeatedly for 4th Digit
If the correct code number is now shown
Press & Hold Preset " AS " Until the Unit Beeps

I think that guiide could be clarified with a 'Ensure radio is off' after the switch ign on stage :y

Yes, and the time gets longer each time an incorrect code is entered. Yes, ignition has to be left on, often for hours at a time and remember that you do not get infinate attempts either.

Have a look at my website if you need a correct code though, its a lot less painless in the long run !!

Thanks Dave, just as i suspected. When i originally put in the wrong code, twice, there was a figure in brackets saying 09 and then 08. I assume this will be the number of attemps I have left to put the code in correctly, I hope?

Yep, and from 07 onwards you run the risk of flattening the battery with the ignition on for such a long time.

What model radio are we now referring to?
