Post by: Iain on 13 August 2010, 22:07:21
Hi everyone,
Right plan is to retro fit standard rear parking sensors...

I have the bumper plus sensors, just need to know what else i need to make it work...?

A box of tricks or what?

Fitting it into a CD model

the beeping sound of the paring sensors in my car is very low !!

is there a way to make it louder ??

or is it like that from the beginning ??

I mean a little more volume from the stereo and you cant hear the sensors

Afaik yes, if genuine correct parts. Think The Boy said tech 2 can't talk to park pilot, and I know the box has it's own diagnostics, so would think plug and play, but wait for others to confirm for sure.

So it should just be a case of securing the Pilot ecu and plugging it all together  :y

ParkPilot has a "built in" self diagnostic .. remove the pink resistor that looks like a blade fuse, tucked away beside the rear nearside light cluster... then switch on ignition and select reverse .. system beeps to tell you which sensors it thinks are not working..

Good stuff  :y

Entwood do i just plug and play with this or do i need to splice into the loom? And TB mentioned you may have a spare Pilot ecu you might sell? :y

If the loom is present it is all pretty self-contained AFAIK, how the loom connects to the car if not already fitted I have no idea !!!

If, big IF, I end up with a spare serviceable parkpilot ECU,  VXL V6 is first in the queue as he's already asked. I doubt I'll get time to do the rest of the investigations until after the Bank Holiday, as I've just got back from 16 days away, and we leave on Friday for another 12 ... :) Lots to get done in the meantime and the reversing sensors are well down the priority list !!

If memory serves TIS mentions something about changing the volume by a connection .. I'll look it up when I get the chance ...

Right .. according to TIS, there are 2 cables black/black&white in the circuit, should be in the same vicinity as the pink "fuse that isn't" - 430 Ohm resistor - if these are connected the system is in quiet mode, if disconnected it is in loud mode

Woo, thanks Entwood, will look into that, it could do with being a bit louder IMO.  :y

Right..other bumper fitted with the sensors all painted up and now on the car, wiring fed through and ready.... now all i need is to find a park pilot ecu and figure out how to make it all work  :y
