Hi, I have (I believe) standard headlights and they are pretty poor. Main beam is fine bit on dip beam the light is not good, I've had omegas before and always had the same thoughts about the headlights, probably why the introduced the HID.
Anyway I've seen some rally H1 bulbs that are 100w and some at 130w, I know these aren't road legal but technically would they work ok? or would something melt/burn etc?
Cheers
Dave.

I had 110 watt bulbs in my mains (dip are HIDs) for a while without any problems. However changed these for Osram Nightbreakers, main beam now seems better! HTH :y

Think I might try a set.
With the stupid way they advertise on eb, just thought I would check, are all H1 bulbs of equal size and base mount. Plus is it H1 I need for my main beams.
TIA :y

Cheers Rob, am glad I asked as I am now confused again.
Both my cars are 1999
T Plate Eleite with HID
V Plate GLS with Projectors I believe.
From What I read it is illegal to fit HID as main bean so am assiming the list means that cars fitted with HID use H7 Mains.
Plus also my projectors use the H7 as well.
Headlights - dipped beam = H1 or HID
Headlights - main beam = H1; HID or Projector (98 model year onwards) = H7

Yes am on 50% proof smirnoff mixed with a bit of coke, not 100% wiv it tonight.

Your Elite will have H7 as the main beam
Your GLS will have H7 as main and H1 as dipped

i is NOT illegal to fit HiD - despite what DfT may tell you.
as an owner of an already-modified car, you are not prevented from fitting HiD with or without self-levelling or headlamp washers

Ok, thanks for the tip about the osram nightbreakers, I have some now and they are a definate improvement.
Still was wondering about the 100w or 130w (not for road use), has anyone tried these as their dip beam bulbs?
Can anyone forsee any problems? I did see one advert that stated the switch must be rated at 25amps, is it?
Reason i'm still looking at this is my shogun and my wifes meriva have really good headlights and i'd like to get the miggy up to the same standard without installing HID.
Cheers
Dave
