found several telematics units in germany, but i do not speak or read german...... so.... not really feeling like bidding on ebay for them.
looking to get an NCDC 2015 + telematics combo for my MV6.
anyone seen any in the UK? or at least in English, ???
-
getting stuff in germany not a problem, as my brother lives near Stuttgart
-
All items you buy MUST be depaired, and in Delivery state.
If not, they are expensive paperweights.
-
Additionally, assuming your NCDC was factory fit (PM me your reg, and I'll check), you need your carpass to depair your stuff first.
Its probably unlikely you will have the telematics wiring, so not a plug and play affair....
-
I have just bought that telematics module with a piece of loom... The correct connector have 32 pins, and I have just found a 18 pins connector behind my glove box, and no loom for antenna... So I'm after a plan to install all that properly...
-
The 18 Pin phone prewiring won't provide you with all the signals you require. You'll need the CAN lines as well.
-
I know... Nobody here have already done this job? I have a NCDC2013 like Max, that will be helpfull for both us :)
-
Best to get hold of a Trafficmaster or SOT-078 loom and make yourself a sub loom off that and run the tails to the left of the centre console and out down the side to the glovebox area.
-
does that imply that if you have a trafficmaster system fitted already you may have looming for the telematics?
-
No sorry!
It's just that the Trafficmaster sub loom provides a base for building a Telematics loom without messing with the cars loom.
-
Damn ! ;-)
i guess i'll get a bluetooth thingy for now.....
gonna miss the Elite's rather useful set of toys at this rate....
-
I run both a Nokia bluetooth / cradle (CK-7W) and the Telematics. Have to say that the Telematics is barely used but it's nice to know that you have it there in an emergency.

Ok, so what exactly does "Telemetics" give you then?

Basically a phone...
SIM in back of the H/U controllable through GID/CID, hands free calling...

Nearly. Sim goes in the Telematics unit that fills your already puny glovebox :y

Unless you take TheBoys lead and re-engineer the location... :y

Forgot the crappy facelift telematics takes up the whole glove box. pre-facelift design was better were it was back of the h/u

Wouldn't say it's crappy, it's a full 8W Class II device that stands a chance of negotiating a signal where a handheld class 4 1/4W wouldn't even be able to start the negotiate. Very handy when your off the beaten track (Read as away from the coverage near population figures the networks claim are true indications of coverage) on Vodafone / O2

Indeed - I get a good, strong vodafone signal outside my house with the telematics. I have to walk about a mile to get a good strong signal on Tunnie's beloved gayPhone on Vodafone ;D ;D

Not really, pf hu cd changer is in the boot, which is not convenient either IMO. Changing a cd far more often than a sim card personally.
