Title: Siemens NCDC 2013 - Sat Nav disc and iPod integrat
Post by: Welsh Dan on 26 October 2010, 16:49:34
Hello all.

I've just bought a 2001 Omega, with the Siemens NCDC 2013 headunit. Unfortunately, its missing the sat-nav disc.

Firstly, where do I get a reasonable price replacement disc from?

Secondly, where does it go? In the top single CD slot?

Finally, any way of integrating an iPod into it, other than using one of the iPod FM transmitters?

Ebay, top slot, and No, in that order.

DaveDND supplies probably one of the better FM adapters I've used, and I bought one myself. I think its better than the HK ones I've heard, like the one suggested above. Even that review suggests its as good as an iTrip (which must be one of the worse adapters out there!!).

Downside of DaveDNDs one is the limited frequencies available.

There is no hifi stereo input on the NCDC headunit. End of.

i fit a harmon kardon drive and play into my elite with the assistance of lazydocker a couple of years back. cheap enough if found on the bay or a breaker, new ones in argos are about £300, i paid £20 i think from argos official clearance store on the bay.

theyre good cos theyre not FM adaptors, theyre the equivalent of switching your non ipod friendly stereo on to 'auxillary'. you just assign it a radio channel to feed from, but its not transmitting via FM frequency, its just a channel for it to communicate with the device. weird logic i know, but it works.

newer versions of the kit have a 'colour' display, but to be honest i'm not sure an extra £280 to *not* look at your Level 42 Greatest Hits cd sleeve is value for money

It is an fm adaptor (and can be a non fm one with right hu).

Only 2 ways to officially get audio in on Omega HUs (ie, without soldering in different mixers):
FM - medium quality, prone to issues with interference, either stereo or mono, many are mono.
Phone in - Very low quality, mono only.

There is no Aux in on these

Well, i've got a Nav CD, and it would appear that the CD player is fubared. It keeps telling me to insert the disc the right way up, so i'd guess that the lens/laser has gone and it can't read it :(

Dan, you have original disc or just a copy?
if you have a copy , try another CD (verbatim , sony) not china made, and write data at lowest speed , it helped me  :y

Verbatim or TY. Never Sony (cheap, shite media normally).

That said, I still wouldn't recommend *ANY* CDR in these units.

Was hoping this would be possible...from Robs link...

Depending on the stereo, your interface might be a 1/4" jack, a set of right and left RCA plugs, or something proprietary. In my case, I was faced with a proprietary plug which required a US$12 adapter. As yet another option, there is a way to hard-wire your car's antenna into the brain, and then plug the brain into the antenna port in the back of your radio. This is a good option if you don't have an auxiliary line-in port, since it uses the built-in antenna. You might still be subject to FM interference, but not nearly so much as if you were using the built-in FM transmitter.
