have any models ever had this?

not that ive seen yet, altho on my 95 elite if you opened a door all the door lights and intrior light came on, being beige leather made it very light inside at night.

not sure if that was factory or a mod by a previous owner.

There's a coutesy lamp integral to the rear grab handle in each side at the back. My car is a 99 and when you open the rear door, you just get the reading lamp & 'puddle light' on that specific lamp. My 93 Senator was as Vauxfan2k's car in that ALL the interior lights came on if you opened any one door. An excellent way to flatten your battery when working with a door open.  :-? ;)

nice one. never noticed the lack of lighting before until the darkness encroached upon us.
just had a look,one switched off, the other bulb has gone, switch to one position and lights come on with door opening only and not ignition controlled. :y
