Title: Engine Management Light Exhaust problem
Post by: Somerset Lad on 11 November 2010, 13:39:23
The Engine management lights comes on my Omega 2.2CD petrol engine car. Both sensors from the exhaust to the engine management system have been checked, the front one was previously replaced, but that did not resolved the problem. The air flow meter sensor has been replaced but after short distances the engine management light comes on again. Computer check last week revealed no error message, but the light has come on again this week. It does not go off until the garage has put it on the computer to check the engine management system. Any ideas what it can be? I have had this problem for some months and it is driving me up the wall!!

There were no codes when it was checked last week, it is going in to have it put on the computer tomorrow and will advise what codes have been.

If you have a light on, and no codes, then would strongly suggest to go to another garage with better equipment and knowledge of what they are doing.

Light on = FAULT  CODES

The Car has been checked on the computer this morning and the code was P0421. I was informed that they are going to replace the front section of the exhaust with the catalytic converter, it is under warranty. As regards trying another garage, the Vauxhall dealer could not solve the problem so I am already trying someone else.

P0421 Warm Up Catalyst Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)

I wonder if the EGR is stuck shut?

Under this warranty scheme will you have to pay anything - such as first £50/100?

It was a new exhaust last year with a 2 year warranty so nothing to pay
