Hi all,
Where is the best place under the dash/dash fuse box to pick up a good ignition live feed? I have fitted a facet lift pump and need it to run all the time (existing lift feed is ecu controlled). I have found a blue ign live wire in the boot but it doesnt seem to be man enough, so am running a wire along the drivers side sill to the dash.
many thanks :)

Don't wish to be critical but if this is for a road car it is dangerous to have an electric fuel pump wired this way. In the event of an accident it can go delivering fuel.
Ways of doing it are via an ignition swiched safety relay or failing that going for the old inertia switch as fitted to many Rovers and Fords.

Understood and agree, i thought there may be something under the dash i could pick up from that would do this too.
But at the mo i need to get this working so i can start my new job :D and i cant find my haynes manual...

On the towbar wiring socket behind the plastic boot trim, is there an ignition swiched live in there. I am pretty sure I found one in there when I fitted my towbar.
Believe it for use when fitting a socket for towing caravans.

If you mean the larger red cable in with the 12N plug wires, then it's permanently live.

Have you tried the pump fed from the ECU? I can't see why it wouldn't be able to draw fuel through a stopped Facet pump, TBH.
I would echo the warnings about adding an inertia switch but why run another wire to then pump?
Surely you can just feed the fuel pump relay from an ignition switched source under the bonnet (easy to find) and leave the existing properly fused feed in place?

I suspect you are right andy.

I tried blowing thru the facet unsuccessfully and also think that having it on full time will cure the inherit hot start problem. Plus, it makes veggie oil happier. I have fused it at the back too.

Ahh, OK. I can suck through my spare one, but it's the mechanical type. :-/

Picked up from the abs feed for now anyway. Test run 1st thing, ticks over ok though
