Would it be possible to change the head unit and amp in a car with bose? What I mean is getting a new 5 channel amp running the speakers at 2 ohms, connected to a new head unit. Would it be easy enough to connect the bose speakers to the new amp or does the bose need to be removed completely and a complete new system put in (i.e. new speakers and wiring)

IF you can get a 2ohm Amp and compatible head-unit, you can use the existing speakers and cabling.
It's a big 'IF' though.
You'd be better off replacing the speakers as they are not really up to anything more powerful than the standard BOSE Amp.

Anything commercial that drives 2 ohms happily is probably too powerful for the Bose speakers. Best to take the whole system out and sell it to someone wanting to upgrade, then start again.
