Car has been sat under a foot or more of snow for at least a week.
Gave it a start today to make sure all was well and, on shutdown, got the dreaded 4 beeps from the powersounder.
Anyone able to provide the part number for a replacement for a 2002 model 3.2 Estate, please? Computers are in various forms of dissarray and cant be bothered to rebuild, this late in the weekend....

Think the number is moulded on the back H :)

Really want to get a replacement first off so that I only delve into the guts of the windscreen surround and do the deed in a oner.
At least i will have a replacement to experiment with to replace battery packs etc.
That will be 9231886 then??

Dealer today was quoting some stupid price circa £178.00 or so. 'Trace club' discount amounted to a whole 3%.
guess the answer....... :-X
-
Sure Entwood was talking about £50 to £60 for his new ps iirc....?
Or post it to Kevin for battery soldering? Cheeper still.
he did my last one, and has another in progress. Black car needs doing too. Really should have a go at soldering myself, it looks very easy....when he does it.

yeah they are sodding expensive from Vx, some have had replacement batteries fitted. But, personally as they will be unknowns and these units have been known to catch fire. You know what I have done with mine :-X

You naughty man Tunnie. :-X
Btw its possible to just undo the torx screw in the corner of the scuttle and reach in and loosen to the 10 mill nut holding the PS in place, it then slides rearward out of it's bracket. Then undo the plugs and it's free. Saves disturbing the wipers etc.
It is a bit like re decorating your hallway through the letterbox though. :-/

No idea what difference is between prefacelift and facelift types...

Happy to look into replacing batteries if you like. :y
As long as the existing ones have not leaked badly it will be by far the cheapest solution.

/Panto mode
Oh yes it is...

It's worth cutting open with a hack saw first to make sure the circuit board has not been eaten by battery acid, but peeps and car age are a good sign afaik. Remove asap IMO.

The Estate's PS started doing this last week so it's now got a new home.... Starting to get a nice collection of them now!!!

So the 9194455 one is for the facelift? Y chassis types, apparently? Just spoken to a parts man who was somewhat less than disinterested and not particularly helpfull....

I'll check the part number on the one that came out of mine later. :y

The one pictured is out of, and now back in, my old 52 plate. If that helps at all? :-?

Just checked mine and it's the same. Bosch P/N 09 231 886 Index 02.
Seems the older type with the same P/N had the button style Ni-Cd batteries and these have Ni-Mh. Pre-FL ones have potted circuit board and different batteries again, IIRC.
Not sure that gets us any further forwards as I can't see a GM part number anywhere. :-/

Maybe Entwood got his from Bosch?....if that's at all likely?

Nope, vx.

All Omegas a V chassis - the y is the year (y=2000, so facelift) part of vin.
I need to check if plugs are the same, in which case either....
-
It will be the 4455 one then. Its a fair chunk cheaper as well..... :y

Let me dbl check connector first - I have a facelift one somewhere in garage (off goldie), and prefacelift one upstairs (off silver bullet)

It's more than just a 12V siren, it has rechargeable batteries, charging circuit and some logic to manage the sounding of the alarm.
The SAAB item is likely to be exactly the same as the Vauxhall one as they were both GM products at that time.

tech 2 can read the alarm ecu and if its genuiny triggeredt hen the relevant sensor is identified, such as a dodgy interior light switch in the door frame for instance.
However, most likely the power sounder is going off randomly as the batteries have leaked axid on its circuit board. Unplug it and see if the problem stops.
If the alarm still triggers , shown by flashing indicators as the siren is now unplugged, then check/unplug the bonett switch.
see how you go
