ok before everyone goes "NOT AGAIN" ::) this is slightly different ;)
i have a ccrt 700 which has started to play up i.e when you start the car it doesnt remember the last station it was on and will keep trying to tune itself but never does, but as soon as you press a preset it will go to that station, also it seems to not be able to pick up some local stations that it used to pick up,
saying that i managed to get replacement headunit but before i go and fit it there are a couple of things i need to find out
1-my original HU is a phillips ccrt700, new one is bose ccrt700, will it work properly with original set up in car?
2-regarding the local station tuning is there a aerial amplifier in the car, if so where is it?
3-will boot cd player be compatible with new headunit and i should be able to enable the code the normal way?
4-will the new HU affect the mid in any way?
i know alot of questions but dont want to fit new one if it isnt going to work :y
thanks

Sounds like aerial failure - either joint at rear of radio or connections between aerial booster and screen - you will need to fix this problem first, as any other radio fitted may still not be able to receive a signal either.

No, The BOSE is designed to work the the BOSE amplifiers, some (but not all) head units will allow you to deselect BOSE by using a Tech2 or a bit of programming with the buttons if you know how.

Yes, there is an amp in the car, but will affect all stations, not just local ones - think its near rear shelf, but others will be able to advise on that one.

CD Changer will only work with EXACTLY the same model of CCRT700, not all of them.
4-will the new HU affect the mid in any way?
Not to my knowledge, think the display will work with all versions of CCRT700 ?

99.9% certain that a change of head unit is NOT going to cure your fault.

thanks dave :y

Its a real b***ard to do - and would advise a tech2 session every time, as too easy to irreversably corrupt the programming of the head unit if you are not used to doing it.

hmmm think i will leave the programming well alone then :y
will report tomorrow after getting to aerial amp
thanks

one more thing dave or anybody ;) is the reason (behind the bose ccrt700 not working in a non bose car with a ccrt 700 )
that the bose ccrt 700 uses an external amp and the ccrt 700 has a built in amp ???

Yes, Setting the unit to BOSE gives a very different level of output from the head unit to run the external amps

Presumably programming via tech II just disables the internal amp (or significantly lowers output levels).
I have a full Bose setup from an estate for sale, it includes all speakers, amp and kickpanel to amp wiring loom.
