Title: Brake lights stay on when headlights on
Post by: lordcubby on 14 January 2011, 16:17:54
Hi All,
Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I haven't found it.
My break lights (left, right and middle) stay on when the headlights are on.  Also the cruise control is intermittent and the sun lifts of its own accord.

Can anyone help?

Thanks.

try this for your sunroof -http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1247486519
could also try a reset first which i think is -
go through open, close and tilt but keep switch pressed for a few seconds after it has travelled to its limit in each position :y
brake lights not a clue  :-/ nor your cruise but somebody will be along soon  :y

Can you try taking the brake light bulbs in the rear clusters out one at a time and re-checking? I wonder if one of these is feeding across from the tail light circuit to the brake light circuit. Does anything odd happen when you brake without the headlights on? Number plate lights or dashboard illumination coming on, for example?

Ive seen a similar brake light problem when someone put an indicator bulb (one pin on base) into a stop/tail socket that was looking for a bulb with 2 pins.

If the car is new to you, or you have been playing with lights, its worth checking you have the correct bulbs fitted?

Agreed... Check all the bulbs are correct and correctly fitted... Other thing to check is a sticky Brake Light Switch :)
