My Battery just died tonight :'(. Its installed by previous owner and its 70ah, but i'm not sure that is the right batt for my engine. I searched on many sites but i find that on my diesel 2,2 fits 72ah, 74ah and also 85ah. wich should i get?
-
I'd go with the 85ah.
Diesels need a bit more juice than petrol engines from the battery and are therefore bigger. Biggest I could get for my car from Vauxhall was 66ah iirc which I bought about 2 months ago.

i don't want to get a genuine gm because its pretty expensive, almost double.. will the 85amp fit?

Omega Batteries Part Number Retail Trade Trade Club
70 amp/hr (OE) 9201470 £83.00 £75.95 £58.46
2.0TD/2.2TD - 70 amp/hr 93189922 £64.50 £59.02 £52.09
2.5 V6 - 70 amp/hr 93189922 £64.50 £59.02 £52.09
3.0 V6 - 70 amp/hr 93189922 £64.50 £59.02 £52.09
2.6 V6 - 65 amp/hr 93189923 £64.50 £59.02 £48.23
3.2 V6 - 85 amp/hr 93197903 £97.50 £87.75 £69.13
2.5TD - 85 amp/hr 93197903 £97.50 £87.75 £69.13
2.0/2.2 - 60 amp/hr 93197905 £48.70 £43.83 £40.05
According to this, 70Ah for the 2.2TD (it lists 85Ah incorrectly for the 3.2 which - mine at least - has a 65Ah the same as the 2.6)
I don't know if the 85Ah would fit physically - the GM one is huge (it was in my previous 2.5TD); for aftermarket non GM you'll probably have to measure it and find one that fits the same space as they come in all manner of shapes & sizes..

As said, the 85Ah listed in Trade Club is huge, and won't fit a 3.2. I would take some measurements of the space available and note the type and orientation of the terminals and mounting brackets then go to your supplier and see what will fit.
A larger capacity battery isn't necessarily better as rarely does an engine start take more than a few percent of the total capacity. Cold start performance (CCA) is probably more important.
