Hello Everyone,
I have an Omega 1998, 2,5 V6 auto. Last night, I have just noted that the battery light was illuminating slightly first, and started blinking immidiately after acting off and on during drive.
In my opinion, the most important point here was to see the RPM indicator and speedometer needles went to zero briefly as soon as the battery light illuminated. And, engine control lamp is still on now without going off any more. But, everything engine related seems normal up to now, at least for 3 days (approx. 200 km). On the other hand, battery lamp is still illuminating slightly sometimes when I drive day or night with or without revving the engine. At idle, lamp does not illuminate but the engine indicator remains on.
I wonder if the alternator failed and caused something belonging to the engine systems to get malfunctioned. Also, can I drive the car for a while like that? Or, do I have to take her to the Service without wasting time?
Any idea or help will be greatly appreciated.

Best to get it checked out soon to make sure the battery is not being overcharged.
Try the 'paperclip test' to determine why the engine control lamp is on, further info in here, somewhere!

Thanks Brikhead, I will have it checked on Friday. I will share the findings here...

Finally, I took the car to the service and they reburbished the alternator. Somehow, I am not able to upload the pictures I took here.

Actually, I would show the alternator pictures in "before/later" frame. They replaced bearings, copper portion of rotor, regulator and the brushes (charcoal like). The lesson learned from here should be "not to waste time after first blinking of battery light in the dash"... So, I recomend that you take your car to the service or do something by yourself if you can, with no wasting time. For your information, I paid almost 160 euros for refurbishment in Turkey.
