Title: Can't be bothered to go out to the car...
Post by: Lazydocker on 22 January 2011, 21:01:18
... to find the manual!

Are the main Beam Bulbs on a mfl H7?

Figure that, while I've got the units out to fit new d2s dipped beam bulbs I may as well replace the Main Beam Bulbs with some nightbreakers or similar

Only got a 2002 manual here .. not a lot of use ... but this site might help

http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk

you can stick the vehicle details in and get all the bulb answers .. :)

Shows the  dipped as H1 and main as H7 for normal lights and

D2S dipped, H1 main for HIDs

Interestingly, that says mine (being a 99) will be H7 as I thought so I'm glad I decided to wait until I went out today so I could check!

or you can just acess this site and see what bulb your car needs

Trouble with that sites and others ...... they all go on "model year"and don't take into account model differences, and upgrades like mini facelift and Elites ...

eg .. mini face lift Elite had HID's ... min face lift CD didn't ...

The Autobulbs one I linked to "tries" by listing HID's and non-HID's seperately .. but who knows how accurate their database is ???

So if we can check/update OUR list in FAQ's to be accurate .. so much the better .. :)

Just my thoughts .... nowt else .. :)

have you checked the philips site?? it asks if the car is pre 97 or post 97, and if the car has hid or not, in the omega case. it doesn't matter what car version it is, you just have to know if it has hid or not :)

the autobulbs site says my car has h1 main beam but i remember seeing h7 inside them :)

Can't find it in the manual anyway :-X ::)

Anyway... Peering through the lens it looks like they are H7 for main beam and, as dbug says, H1 for the fogs :y
