Title: AUDIO: Ripspeed DV720 - No audio via ISO
Post by: Xplicit 2.0 on 24 January 2011, 13:53:52
Hey, has anyone ever had/installed a Ripspeed DV720?
Im having an issue with mine and im rather stumped on it...

Right the term "all singing and all dancing" doesnt quite fit as at the moment it only does the dancing. It works, the screen slides out etc etc but there is no sound coming from the door speakers. Now, i wired my sub in and that works (confused the hell out of me at first loads of bass, no music, i thought someone nearby had a huge instal :-[ ) but i have checked all the setings, un plugged and re plugged the ISO leads countless times, i even did a continuity check on the FL, FR, RL and RR on the ISO (headunit side) the make sure there was no breaks and all is well...

My current headunit (JVC KR-something) works in it, fine dandy and crystal clear.

Anyone got any ideas, suggestions or better yet, know what is wrong?

cheers in advance

Does the car (or has it ever) had a Bose system installed?

These came with 2 ohm speakers. I suppose these could be overloading the head unit outputs and causing the amps to shut down.

As Kevin said, check for BOSE - if so, the the Ripspeed isn`t compatable without a fair bit of rewiring.

However,

Would suggest to hang a test speaker on one of the Ripspeed outputs just to make sure you actually have audio coming out of it, as they are such temperemental units that we have seen over a 50% failure rate of those "out of the box".

cheers for the responses.
The headunit did work, i hav bought it second hand and it was in working order. my mig is a '96 2.0 CD so i dont think it has BOSE. i know it has its own amp tucked in behind the spare wheel but i thought that was for the 2 speakers in the small parcel shelf

Try unplugging the amp and see if audio comes back?
