We all know how hard these are to obtain now, and spares for the problematic 4 disc changer have now reached virtually zero.
Well I have some good news for you !!!
We have just cleared out a major service centre of all of their shelf stock, and low and behold, we have a very large quantity of CCR2006 units and CDR2005 CD players, that are in very good clean condition, and were being used as warranty exchange units for Vauxhall. (May be a few CCRT2008 units also)
We will put them all through our workshop first just to give them a quick test, but if any Oofers are interested, I can do them at a much reduced price before they get recorded on to our books, and certainly much cheaper than we will be selling them for on our website.
£100 each + Courier
Fully serviced, with all codes and 3 month warranty
(These do NOT come with a cartridge)
Be quick though, these are not going to stand still as will be punted around various dealerships very soon at a much higher price.
:y
-
These are going quick - only a few left if anyone is interested
;)
-
this might be best placed in the for sale section? might be overlooked in here?

It would be overlooked by me for sure as this is the only section I have an interest in - as I don`t own an Omega, the rest of the site is really of little interest to me. Placed here as many Oofers contact me here about faulty units, and this is a good and cost effective solution.
;)

MODS.
Would it be possible for a blanket pm to be sent to all oof members, explaining that the rules on selling items have been relaxed, please?
To all newbies - We used to have to have to post items for sale in the 'for sale' section. I myself will take a little time getting used to the new system of looking for items for sale in the 'help' section. But, I am happy to accept change and improvements to the site. :) :y :D :D
If I have misunderstood, I apologise, but the method of selling needs to be explained. The mods have spent a good deal of time building and maintaining this site, I have always found the current format very user-friendly and fair.
-
I suppose this means that newbies can now put items For Sale in various sections, without having to pos them in the "test" section, then asking for them to be moved. ::)
-
I think you'll find that there was an exception made for these specific items. Dave has been a valuable member here for a long time and is trying to help some people out with some stock he has acquired... These 4 disc changers are rare as rocking horse poo ;)
-
DaveDND has a sufficiently high postcount, and is always here trying to help others (OK, its also his business).
I think, given the items, and the fact that DaveDND will only ever be in this section, its acceptable to have it here. This is NOT a workaround the restrictions around the For Sale sections, as DaveDND has in excess of 3000 posts.

Yes, that's exactly the case.
As he has said himself, Dave has no interest in Omegas specifically, yet has given a great deal of his time over the years to helping people with electrical and audio questions, for which we are grateful.
We feel it's acceptable for him to make the odd commercial offering to members through this section in return, whether it be a plug for his head unit decoding services, a link to his web site or an opportunity such as this. It's of benefit to us all (if you don't agree, pop into your local dealer and get a quote for a brand new CCR2006). ;)

I know a brand new CCRT700 was £850!!! :o :o :o and that was a good 4 or 5 yrs ago

OK, to keep Diamond Black Geezer happy, I have come up with this.
I`m no longer selling these items, therefore I don`t have to place them for sale in the appropriate section. I am however now going to offer them as a service exchange for faulty ones, and will therefore continue to put them here, which is where you would first ask the question, can anyone find parts to repair my obsolete head unit.
:P
P.S. Thanks for the support guys, I know its probably not the right place to put these, but as you are all aware, when I am constantly monitoring so many forums due to our Radio repair business, I do not get time to read all the sections, which does mean that any important questions would get overlooked.
And finally, yes, these are indeed like rocking horse poo and are flying out the door, so if you do want one, be quick as there are not that many left.
As he has said himself, Dave has no interest in Omegas
It always makes me laugh seeing that, its a real understatement, I can`t stand them, and yet you all still make me feel so welcome here as an Honorary Oofer
;D :-X

No, it was a fair comment - I have listed stuff in the wrong place, I shouldn`t have done, but there was sufficient reasoning behind it, and I knew also that the mods would understand why I had done it.
But that shouldn`t open the flood gates and encourage everyone else to do it !

Probably because everyone is under the impression that 99% of the 2nd hand ones are now unserviceable - which is what makes our refurbished ones with a warranty a real bargain !!

Good job you're not a mod then. Some people thought it was a fair comment, Dave DND was one of them. ::)
I appreciate the answers by Lazydocker, TB and Kevin Wood.

Didn't Mark post a link for a source of lasers? Happy to do the surgery if you get a laser.

Hi did, and that's a kind offer, it's a job that will have to be done one way or another. If I could find the time ATM I'd order it and have a go at replacement, I love these sorts of jobs, assuming it's intrecate and fiddly watchmaker type work?. Sadly my/your recommendation for marine ply bathroom upgrade had it's legs removed in no uncertain terms. >:(

TB, have seen on German auction site a CANBUS simulator for putting a CANBUS Audi radio into an older NON-CANBUS car, and this £25 little box of tricks gives the ignition sense signal to turn it on and off. I`m going to have a play to see if it can be modified in any way for use on the Omega, but mention it in case you get to research it before I do.
;)

I know it's Dave's business, but it's so refreshing to find someone who obviously puts so much time & effort into something that he "can't stand." I can't imagine the money he makes from here is a great deal when compared to his website & physical business.
There are many others on other forums could learn a lot from him- many thanks & please keep it up!
*excuse my while I throw up..... ;) :y :y :y

I'm sure I've seen devices that will take other signals - vehicle speed, RPM, etc. and send the information on a CAN bus. Can't remember where I saw it or why I was looking though. ::)
It probably wouldn't be that hard to build something. Plenty of little microcontrollers have built-in CAN interfaces these days and the head unit would probably only be a "consumer" of CAN packets, so you probably wouldn't have to talk to it interactively, just simulate a subset of the packets that would be spat out by the rest of the car.
Hmm. another project to add to the pile. ::)

There are many interfaces out there advertising speed pulse, ignition, reverse etc etc, but 99.9% of then are for putting a NON-CAN stereo into a CAN car, exceptionally rare to see it the other way around - but if you do ever see anything that is Non-VAG, please point me at it
:)

According to the description that gizmo just simulates a 'switched live' when it 'guesses' that the engine is running based on how the permanent live voltage floats (I'm guessing it's really just looking for a voltage >12V).. is that what you're looking for in a CANbus headunit? I thought it was the other way around.. (you needed the CANbus 'on' signalling rather than just 12v presenting on a wire)

:-?
Seems to generate a switched 12v supply from a permanent 12v supply by sensing the noise level on the permanent 12v supply to detect ignition switching, so no CAN conenction. Smacks of a bit of a bodge to me. :-/

Ahh, OK. :y
Looks like it takes the ISO signals plus one additional wire. Hmm. I suppose most if it is on the ISO plug. Permanent and switched power, illumination power, speed signal. Perhaps with the addition of a reversing light feed?
Strikes me that most of the signals will be the same for any pre-CAN car, except the calibration of the speedo signal, I suppose.
The question is whether the CAN output is standardised or bespoke to VW, I suppose.
It is tempting to get a CAN sniffer and have a poke around.

This one seems to be bespoke to VW-CAN1, and does not appear to support the later 2nd generation of VWCAN2 head units

I have acid (or even a cid) you could play with, but i'll need it back, and needs depairing first. But it's pointless surely!
