Title: Help
Post by: Omega Man on 26 February 2011, 21:08:20
Driving home today there was a burning smell and then the dashboard lights went out and the indicator bulb for the gear selector on the auto box. Is it just the fuse or the fuse and somthing else? :-/

personally i would check behind the dash where the burning smell was coming from before replacing fuses, sounds to me like some wires have burnt through or a failed connection  also check under the wiring under the gearstick surround  :(

Ive had a look at Haynes and the fuse for the dashlights does cruise, sunroof, glove box, reversing lights etc. which are all still working. I think it must be a short too. Looks like its time to take things apart!:(

Tracked it down to the dimmer which has shorted out on the headlamp switch. Bought a replacement off ebay, came next day from omegaspareparts.com, fitted, everthing back to normal. :y Also found some doggy wiring as its an ex plod and sorted that out as well! ::)
