could someone please help im pulling my hair out.
i have a 2003 2.2 cdx auto 43000miles.
for the last 7 weeks my car has been passed between garages.
first the eml light came on but only every now and then.sometimes it would start up and no light.
then it started playing up big style. if the car was cold it would run but very lumpy.but when it reached running temperature the throttle would go dead.
took it to vauxhall for tech test and came up with cam position sensor so had it replaced to no avail.
took it back to have it retested to which they refused to let me drive the car away due to throttle unresponsive.after paying them 4 hours labour they informed me the ecu was defective and quoted £1268 to replace and reprogramme.
decided to get a local mechanic to have the ecu sent off for repair.it came back with no fault found.so he had an auto electrician come in who confirmed ecu was defective.
no power to throttle body
no power to throttle position sensor
no power to egr valve
no power to cam position sensor.
so had the ecu sent back for repair and again came back no fault found so phoned them up to explain what has been reported by auto electrician and vauxhall.
they informed me that its a common fault on omegas but they say the fault is with the wiring loom and not the ecu.
if its that common has anybody come across this and if so any help would be very helpful as my mechanic is arguing that its the ecu and wants to get a replacement..

Methinks if it was common there would be lots of info on the forum about it ... and there isn't ..:(
The only "similar" I know of was a 2.5 V6 of around 1997/8 vintage that a mate had where the loom in the cable tray (well known to V6 owners) became damaged somehow and overheated/shorted..... took some major re-wiring to sort ... and that was about 5 years ago before I even joined the forum.. :(

does sound a strange one.
where are you based, there may be someone local who can take a look for you.

That is a right catalogue of troubles, bet that lot hit your wallet hard, with that lot I'd be ready for a slit throat job, especially as I've got no hair, :'(as already said put up where your based, and hopefully someone who knows will be along and then just for now keep away from those garages, that is if your UK based

Vauxhall dealers are never any use. Avoid them. Most auto-electricians are of no use either. Whilst I'm sure there must be some good ones around, clearly the one you used is incompitent.
So, back to basics.
What are the ground connections like to the engine (easy test is a jump lead from -ve battery to a suitable point on the engine block).
Also, worth checking the fuses on top of the battery, particularly FV3.
Do these checks yourself, don't rely on incompitent, expensive muppets.

im based in crewe cheshire.earthing was checked.i know it is surprising that if its such a common fault why can i not find anything on google??
the power into the ecu was checked but have been told there may be a wire shorting and the ecu shuts down the power to the 4 components to protect the ecu and engine..according to the tech guy who did the ecu check is that he has had lots of these problems before and everytime the ecu has come back with no fault found and everyone has been a wiring loom fault.the car is still stuck at the garage as its undrivable..

mia0710 I am having the same problem. My Omega has been in the Vauxhall main dealers since Thursday. They rang me Friday to say they were still looking at it and would ring me Monday to let me know what they had found. They did say it could be an ECU fault. >: :(

mechanic found fault.
egr valve had a short which in turn blew the cam position sensor. every time the sensor was replaced, because egr valve is on the same wiring loom it kept blowing.
he replaced egr valve and cam sensor, car is running sweet as a nut,no eml light and no codes on tech test.......
