Title: Dim MID

Is it normal that the MID is virtually impossible to see if there is even a hint of sunshine?

Now that the finer weather is with us I have found that it is very hard to see the display in bright daylight.  The sun doesn't even have to be shining directly on to the display, just generally bright.  And if if I'm wearing my polarising sunglasses it's just invisible.

I don't think any bulbs have blown as the display is very readable and evenly illuminated in shade or at night, and it does dim slightly when I turn my lights on (which I assume it's meant to).  Is it likely that the bulbs have just dimmed, or are all displays difficult to see in daylight?

i bet your running on 1 lamp.

there are 4 behind there, and it takes a 'trained eye' to spot when just 1 or 2 have gone....most people dont even notice 3 have gone.

I would swap out all 4 and take it from there.  It maybe someone has used 1w instead of 2 or 3w lamps. Ive just replaced mine with these,

 I was down to 1 previously, but couldnt be bothered changing till the last one, or a dash bulb went.

IF your taking the dash out, and ordering, I would probably do the dash illumination while you are there :

Cheers! That sounds entirely plausible.  I wasn't sure if bulbs had gone as I thought the light would look "patchy" if a bulb had blown but I've just checked and it does look as if the lower (clock) illumination is slightly brighter than the top.

I'll order the bulbs anyway so that I'll have them to hand when I open it up.

Yep, it was blown bulbs.  I changed them all and I now have a nice, readable display.

Oh, and when removing the clocks it is much easier to remove the upper steering column cowl otherwise the tab that the screw goes through doesn't clear it.
