Title: CCRT 700 question
Post by: I_want_an_Omega on 02 April 2011, 12:00:36
Simple question ............

Can you/how do you change a non-Bose one to Bose, or vica versa?

Thanks - Rob

Not a definative answer, but just my observations.

Tech2 is virtually always needed to reprogram the state of teh head unit from Bose to Non-Bose - it CAN be done without, but very complex and the procedure is best avoided.

If a head unit has BOSE screen printed onto the front somewhere, then it is unlikely to be able to be reconfigured to Non-BOSE useage.

If the head unit is a standard one, then there is a 75% chance of toggling between Bose and Non-Bose - but I am unable to define which versions can and cannot be done, its a trial and error one I`m afraid.

Thanks Dave,

Luckily my "spare" one is non-Bose  - but I may need to press it into service.

What's "the worse that can happen" if it isn't converted before I swap it over?

Cheers

It will work, but volume will be errattic and a little uncontrollable, but not the end of the world - you may not achieve the desired volume, and I know you are too sensible to run it at full volume, as that would certainly cause some issues.

AFAIK, all ccrt700 units can be set to Bose or non-Bose, its done via Tech2, as is the country coding.

As long as it's not one of those pesky CCRT700's that cause coms trouble with the Tech 2 (like mine) ::) ::) ;) ;)
