Title: Navigation DVD eject by itself...
Post by: Dany on 08 April 2011, 22:01:21
Why my NCDC 2013 eject the navi DVD by itself all times?? Always when I start the car (when all is "cold")... Looks like the headunit eject the DVD until it heat a little bit...

Usually a sign the laser is getting "tired" .. are you using an "original" disc or a computer burned (copied) one ??  Copied discs knacker the laser fairly quickly, and then even using a "proper" disc the problem occurs.

I found a copied disc in my car when I bought it, I have replaced it with a genuine disc but it still ejects until the unit has warmed up a bit, then works fine.....

laser is damaged .. but not wrecked .. :)

I don't really know to be honest... But he looks like an original one (V.2009)! And I never used other discs in this player except the navi one...

So if it's the laser, what do I have to do now??

I know that, not DVD video, but the navi discs are DVD! It's the high player that I'm talking about, not the magazine.

The cleaning may help but it won't cure whats already broken.

Definately not a DVD transport, CD Only

And if it's broken and need a replacement, where can I find new parts? The new laser will need soldering or just a plug and play item?

Hi Dany
Cleaning is the simplest procedure. Mine is still going strong since the clean I mentioned in my previous post and it had exactly the symptom you described, so its worth a go.

If / when I do eventually need to fit the laser unit I bought, I'll post a how to with pictures.

Have a browse of the site, I think you'll find they can supply most of the upper and lower Mechanisms for most units.

Do you used water to damp your coton bud?? Dave not recommand alcohol...
The reason of my laziness is that the ISO connector behind the headunit is broken in two parts, so it is no longer clipped on the cage and it's very very difficult to remount it! The last time, I had to remove the glovebox to pass my hand and plug properly behind!

So if you have a spare 3 sections ISO connector by the way...  ::)

AH! The website works better in German mode lol. Anyway the only parts that still available are the laser bloks...

Nope, click on 'Mechanisms' on the left then Opel and scroll down about two thirds of the way. That's the Nav drive unit complete. Just don't look at the price!

Dany, I used a cotton bud very lightl;y mositened with tap water. I agree with dave that using a lint free bud would be best.

All you are doing is lightly removing any dust that is on the lense. It shouldn't do any damage, and if it doesn't cure it, then you are no worse off than now.

I'm afraid I cannot help re connectors.

Good Luck Pat

I'm just busy on it at this moment, and I have re assembled the headunit now. I will test tomorrow morning and let you know!

For a new connector, I will post a topic on the car parts wanted section :y
