I'm very happy with my Autel Maxscan GS500, £50 from a dealer on ebay (I can't remember which one, but it was only a few weeks ago that I got it).  It's an OBDII/EOBD reader so only suitable if your Omega is a facelift, but it reads engine and autobox codes, live data and stored frame and can reset.

I think the answer you are looking for will really depend on which age and variant of Omega you have, why you need to read a code, and what your intended use of such a code reader is.

If you just want to knock out an EML light and read the bog basic codes, then the Maxiscan unts are very good around the £85, but if you want to do some complex programming, for say gearbox etc, then you will be looking at a Tech2 at anything up to £4k

There is a perfectly good FAQ in the FAQ section about code readers...
